Presently, the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta boasts a magnificent gathering of over 100 hot air balloons and draws the attention of 500,000 spectators during the four-day spectacle!

Morning Acents
The magic begins with early morning hot air balloon lifts, soaring into the skies at 6 am. As the sun gently rises, the fiesta comes alive with a spectacle that will leave you in awe.
The experience is truly worth the early start, as you can treat yourself to a steaming cup of coffee and savour a delectable food from one of the many vendors. Take this time to watch in awe as the balloons inflate up close, ready to gracefully float overhead while the sun rises, casting a radiant glow on the whole spectacle.
This captivating scene sets the tone for an extraordinary day ahead, as the fiesta comes alive with the colours and excitement of these majestic balloons.
From Dawn to Dusk
All Day Fun!
At the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta you’ll find an array of activities that cater to all members of the family. Delight in the children’s entertainment at the Brizzle Kicks area, groove to the live music at the bandstand, and marvel at the ballooning activities in the arena throughout the day—weather permitting, of course!
To ensure you don’t miss a moment of the excitement, grab a delicious lunch or dinner from one of the vendors. Then, at 6 pm, prepare to be amazed as the hot air balloons gracefully inflate, signaling the start of the evening afternoon ascent.

The ballooning arena is the place to be as you witness the skilled balloonists prepare for their airborne adventure.
Amidst the bustling atmosphere, baskets are meticulously rigged, burners are tested, and envelopes are carefully filled with air, all accompanied by the invigorating noise and warmth of the hot inflations. Keep a keen eye on the balloons as they jostle for position, while their pilots diligently get ready for the impending flight.
Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the vibrant green smoke, serving as the flight director’s signal that conditions are favorable for launch anytime after 6 pm.
Even better after dark
Night Glow
Prepare to be dazzled by the breathtaking and iconic Night Glows, held on Thursday and Saturday nights, right after the balloon teams return from their evening ascent.
When the clock strikes 9 pm, a captivating display unfolds, where a collection of up to 25 balloons gracefully tether and come to life with a brilliant glow. Adding to the magic, the balloons synchronise their illumination to a delightful soundtrack thoughtfully provided by the team at BBC Radio Bristol.
This enchanting spectacle promises to be a highlight of the event, creating an atmosphere of wonder and excitement that will leave you spellbound.
