Top Public Houses & Sunday Lunches in Cotham

Love a good roast and a traditional pub? Cotham has a good range of public houses and Sunday lunches to wrap up the week...

#ToastAndARoast

Attention ‘roasty tater’ connoisseurs! Here’s a nod to some of the local public houses which also serve up a notable roast…

Our serviced apartments in Cotham are some of our most highly sought-after places to stay amongst of family of apartments in the city. And rightly so given the number of amazing pubs and roasts which you can find with just a few minutes walk.

The neighbourhood of Cotham is central to a few key postcodes which makes it a great spot to grab a pint and roast and then walk it of before belly-flopping onto the sofa and turning up Netflix on a Sunday afternoon.

Here is our not-so-secret list of local pubs and roasting joints in Cotham…

Stanley Road

The Kensington Arms

If you’re only going to read our first pub on this list then it only makes perfect sense for it to be The Kensington Arms. They were the highly acclaimed winner of ‘Best Gastropub in Bristol’ in 2019 and things haven’t changed there.

COVID or no COVID, they are serving the local community great food all week long and their roast, well… we’re not saying anything, you have to snatch yourself a reservation and try it for yourself!

Redland Road

The Shakespeare

The Shakespeare has become a landmark in the Redland area which closely links up to Cotham. The owners Neil & Olivia have transformed the pub into a warm, friendly and inviting space for people to enjoy great food and quality drinks.

They serve lunch and dinner from Monday to Friday, food all day on a Saturday and a cracking roast on a Sunday.

Cheltenham Road

The Pipe & Slippers

The Pipe and Slippers is the real-life concept behind the popular ‘Pipe & Lovers‘ pop-up which many have heard of at Breaking Bread which is up on The Clifton Downs.

It’s a classy place with a real gastropub menu and needless to say the Sunday roast is up there with one of the best pub Sunday lunches you’ll find in Bristol.

Cheltenham Road

The Social Bar & Café

A popular spot for drinking and eating all week-round with a great outdoor area.

The Social Bar & Cafe embodies the feel of a modern pub right at the heart of the community. Whether you’re vegan, veggie, big or little there’s something on their Sunday lunch menu for everyone.

Alfred Place

The Green Man

The Green Man has been the locals’ favourite for quite some time. Tucked away on Alfred Place, this pub is dog friendly has a famous hatch that has been in some ways a lifeline to sit since the pandemic.

Like any great neighbourhood pub, this little gem doesn’t disappoint on Sunday’s.
