Pack your bags and pick Bristol (the greatest city in the UK) for a staycay. Oh wait, and here’s why…
#TurnOnTheTravel
Ready. Steady. Book!
Now we aren’t naive to the fact that anything can happen in 2021. But what we do know is that if we don’t plan anything, there’s a chance that you’re going to be stuck at home. Like Dave (see below).
Plus, there is the fact that many of our short term lets & serviced apartments in Bristol are already starting to book up fast and we’d hate for you to miss out on all the fun.
So pack your bags and pick Bristol (the greatest city in the UK) for a staycay. Oh wait, and here’s why…
#1 To Eat
When it comes to food, Bristol will always defy the odds.
The community of independent restaurants and cafés has never been stronger and while there certainly has been some turbulence along the way, most of them are weathering the storm like pros.
Some of the newbies being…
- Red Church, St. George
- Four Wise Monkeys, Just off Corn Street
- Dareshack, Near Castle Park
- Coffee Under Pressure, Park Street
…and the list goes on.
#2 To Be Outdoorsy
It’s set to be a summer of celebrating great outdoor activities!
It is very apt for Bristol to be up there as it has some of the most unique outdoor activities happening all over the city and beyond. Some of these including…
- The Wave
- SUP on the Harbour
- Festivals (keep reading for more deets)
- Al Fresco Dining (& Drinking)
- Banksy & Street Art Tours
- Bristol Zoo Project
- Pedal Progression
- Leap of Faith
- Boat Trips
- Hot Air Balloon Trip
- Golf
- Yoga
#3 To Explore & Hang Out
Bristol has an abundance of incredible parks and spots to sit, unwind and enjoy some time with those who you may not have had much chance of seeing in the past year or so.
Some of these little gems are:
- The Harbourside – be near the water’s edge
- Queen Square – there’s always something to gawk at. Be it volleyball eye-candy, Frisbee pros, live local musicians, even picnic pop-ups
- Victoria Park – for a different view over the West of Bristol
- The Downs – surrounded by many an iconic landmark including both the Clifton Suspension Bridge & Avon Gorge
- College Green – planted to the nines with some of the most glorious flower beds in the city. It also has wonderful lawns since the council returfed post-Greta Thurburg
- Brandon Hill – for some of the best views over Bristol and a great place to picnic
- Berkeley Square – take a step back in time and make friends (or enemies) with its thriving squirrel population
- Castle Park – Bristol’s most urban green space. Situated between Cabot Circus, Finzels Reach, Old Market and the Old City
- Eastville Park – for those with furry counterparts, this park is a prime dog walking spot

#5 To Add A Bit of Colour Back To Your Life
We think it’s fair to say we’ve been living in the darkness of our living rooms for far too long. The brightest thing which we’ve seen in months was that beautiful garden in LA where Oprah interviewed Harry & Meghan (sad times). Even I’m A Celeb wasn’t in sunny Oz.
But back to Bristol… on a sunny day, take a stroll and soak up the vibrant architecture, colourful houses, blooming epic greenery and enjoy all the fun going on around you. That’s the kind of colour we all need to see this summer.
#6 To Day Trip
Staying for a little longer? It certainly makes perfect sense if you have a car. Hop on the road and within a short drive, you can be at some of these epic places.
- Wild Place Project
What was once a pop-up on the North West corner of Bristol is now soon to become the new home to Bristol Zoo Gardens in 2022. Check. It. Out.
- Cribbs Causeway
If shopping all over the city hasn’t left you with bunions and in need of a spa day, let the marathon continue at The Mall at Cribbs Causeway and the surrounding retail parks.
- Weston Super Mare
Oh, how we do love to be beside the seaside.
- Longleat
Debatably the UK’s best safari park. The animals must be feeling pretty lonely, but we think a visit from you might help perk them up.
- City of Bath
Book a lunch date in the Roman City of Bath. Rekindle some of the romance potentially lost from 12 months of pointless arguments over boring household stuff.
- Bowood House & Gardens
A little further along the M4 you will find the home of the Marquess and Marchioness of Lansdown. Ideal if you need to try and wear out the sprogs.
Also worth noting that if you book to stay with us direct, we’ll always offer FREE parking where we can.
#7 To Cycle
Despite everything else going on, right outside Your Apartment HQ and across the city, Bristol City Council has been plowing on with their ambitions to make Bristol the cycling capital of the UK.
They have been proactively installing new cycle lanes, crossings and traffic lights joining up the main routes across the city.
In case you were wondering, at Your Apartment – Clifton Village we have FREE secure bike storage for guests who wish to bring their own set of wheels with them.
#8 To Embrace Culture in the Flesh
That right – no more relying on The Crown or the daily news briefing to try and feel like you are a part of something. Come to Bristol and embrace the way of life.
If you’re wondering what the culture is like in Bristol, imagine being free to be whoever you want to be, wherever you want to be it. That’s the kind of place we are or at least trying our hardest to become!
…but for crying out loud, try not to topple any statues on your trip. We’re yet to see the consequences of such a bold move. But good riddance Mr Colston!
#9 To Scoot Your Apartment – Serviced Apartments in Clifton Village – Voi Scooters
Last year, the city had its first delivery of Voi Scooters. They are available all over the city, even in places you might not expect.
All you need is a smartphone, a driving license and you’re off. And when you are bored just jump off and get on with the next part of your day.

#10 To Shop
From some of the independents on Whiteladies Road, Gloucester Road, Clifton Village and Park Street to the multidimensional retail experience at Cabot Circus, Quakers Friar & Broadmead from the 12th April 2021, Bristol retail will be very much open.
While there have sadly been a few casualties in the past year (sorry Debs), the retail-scape in Bristol is still thriving with many new places opening in 2021.
#11 To Quench a VERY big thirst
Oh boy, are we missing snatching a bevvy at our favourite pub garden?
While Bristol has never shied away from some al fresco drinking, we have a feeling this summer has the potential to outdo itself. After all, would be rude not to.
Some of Bristol’s best beer gardens & terraces include:
- The Volunteer Tavern, Old Market
- Bambalan, City Centre
- The Albion, Clifton Village
- Piccolino Bar, Quakers Friar
- Under The Stars, City Centre
- Brown’s Bar, Park Street
- The Botanist, Berkeley Square/Park Street
- Millennium Square (various)
- Wapping Wharf (various)
- Whiteladies Road (various)
…we could go on and on.
#12 To Make Some Good Memories
While we’ve all had ample laughs and experiences over the past year, we really do think it’s about time we got back to making some good memories from some good times.
On that note, Bristol will very much be open in 2021 and ready to give you and your companions something to remember.
Attention!
Now it wouldn’t be a good listicle without a call to action.
