Here’s our pick of special events and experiences happening in and around Bristol this September…

If you didn’t already have a reason to pack your overnight bag and head to the cultural hub of the West Country, here’s a little more inspo to keep the good vibes rolling into the autumn.

3rd

IDLES on The Clifton Downs

The first big gig on The Downs has finally arrived. Bristol’s favourite sons, ‘IDLES’, will be headlining a pretty wild outdoor concert on The Downs this September. This is a one-off gig and will be IDLES very first headline outdoor show in the Bristol area.

 

The band is welcoming around 10,000 people to the show, which let’s face it, after 18 months with very few gigs – it will certainly be on our to-do list.

3rd

Trevor Nelson (Soul Nation) at Thekla

A household name, BBC Radio 2 and 1 Xtra DJ, Trevor Nelson will be taking over Thekla with the Soul Nation crew for the first time in over 3 years.

 

The night is going to be a real throwback with old school tunes left, right and center.

Local Food Tours with Josh Eggleton

Local celebrity chef, Josh Eggleton is hosting intimate Bristol foodie tours and tastings.  Starting on North Street and finally winding up at Wapping Wharf, the tour will help those from the city and further afield discover what it is that makes the Bristol food scene so unique food.

 

He will be showcasing dishes from his restaurants, Root plus Salt & Malt as well as other great locals such as Mark’s Bread, Rare Butchers, Spike Island Cafe and the Bristol Cheesemonger.

Arlo Parks at Thekla

After winning a Brit Award for Breakthrough Artist of 2021, Arlo Parks shows no sense of slowing down as she heads to Bristol this September.

 

She is an artist which exists not only to showcase her insatiable talent as a singer, but also as a performer. Parks is a beacon of proof that no matter how quiet or shy you may be or have been if you keep doing what you love, good things will come.

You Me At Six at O2 Academy

We’re pretty sure there are plenty of peeps who cannot wait for this one. The British band, You Me At Six are on tour and will be performing at Bristol’s O2 Academy on Frogmore Street.

 

They are undoubted heavyweights in the live arena, they will be returning to the stage with their seventh album, SUCKAPUNCH.

The Vaccines at SWX

Only a few times a year does one of Bristol’s biggest clubs pull off such a big event. Rough Trade Bristol are presenting a live performance from The Vaccines at SWX.

 

This unique, one-off event celebrates the release of the band’s new album ‘Back In Love City‘, released 10th September on Super Easy Records.

Ben Howard at The Trinity Centre

The Trinity Centre has become quite the up-and-coming venue. And to mark a stellar reopening is a performance from the one and only Ben Howard.

 

The singer-songwriter will be performing stripped-back songs from his new album, ‘Collections From The Whiteout’, for the first time. An exclusive opportunity to see an arena-headlining artist in such an intimate setting.
